Aftercare

AFTER CARE PROJECT
The concept of aftercare is very important for the successful social re-integration of the institutionalized children into the mainstreamed society. While their capacity has been built up to certain extent for them to stand on their feet, the transition to self-reliance can be very challenging. The children, who have been in the care of Child Care Institutions (Children’s Homes), look to such Institutions for hand holding support.
Snehalaya is an out-reach programme of the Don Bosco Society which specializes in the care and rehabilitation of the children in need of care and protection. This Charitable Trust runs 5 Homes for children in the city. It was realized that most of the girls and boys who were brought up at the residential homes of Snehalaya find it difficult to get decent jobs after attaining the age of 18 years. So finally the founder director of Snehalaya introduces the concept of after care in 2012 with 13 youths. At present status 143 young adults got benefits out of this project.
